    Associate Engineer/Assistant Transportation Planner


    DEFINITION

    Under general supervision of Assistant Director of Public Works, to coordinate and conduct
    transportation planning and programming activities associated with the administration of
    programs under the Plumas County Transportation Commission. Duties include administration assistance toward Regional Transportation Plan, Bicycle Transportation Plan, Regional Transportation Improvement Program, adherence to guidelines of Transportation Development Act, transit planning, project monitoring for State Transportation Improvement Program, overall work program and Public Works projects as required. This opportunity to work within a peaceful mountainous environment will provide a wide range of rural transportation planning challenges within a growing transportation organization.

    EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

    Assists in preparation of Project Study Reports (scope of work, justification, cost estimates,

    BEHAVIORAL HEALTH THERAPIST I

    DEFINITION

    involved with the criminal justice system, experienced incarceration or are at risk of

    DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
    This is an intern position in the Behavioral Health Therapist series, for therapists who
    have a Master’s Degree in Social Work or Counseling Psychology and are registered
    with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences. Candidate must be working on
    accumulating supervised hours toward becoming a Licensed Marriage Family Therapist,
    Licensed Clinical Social Worker or a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor.
    Incumbents are assigned a full range of therapeutic support duties for assigned clients.

    BEHAVIORAL HEALTH THERAPIST SENIOR

    DEFINITION
    Under general direction of the Behavioral Health Unit Supervisor, organize and assist with
    clinical supervision for assigned staff and Behavioral Health programs; to provide
    integrated mental health and alcohol and drug counseling and treatment to individuals with
    qualifying mental and alcohol and drug conditions. Assists with service development, and
    provides serves to higher acuity cases of a population of individuals that may be involved

    DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
    This class is an advanced journey level Behavioral Health Therapist classification series.
    As a fully licensed Senior Behavioral Health Therapist position within the Behavioral Health
    Department, the incumbent will be responsible for assisting with the coordination and staff
    leadership of professional level staff, providing mental health and drug/alcohol counseling
    services. In addition, incumbent may be assigned to provide supervision of an Intern(s).
    Responsibilities may also include assisting in the development and administering
    programs and to supervise a satellite office. The incumbent will provide mental health and
    drug/alcohol services to emotionally disturbed children, adults and families. Incumbent will

    II:  Under general supervision, to supervise inmates at the County Correctional Facility, according to laws, regulations, and policies of the State of California and Plumas County; to enforce Facility rules and maintain Facility security; to be responsible for the security of the facility and safety, care, custody, and confinement of inmates during an assigned shift; to oversee work details and leisure activities; to perform bailiff duties during court sessions; and to do related work as required.

    DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

    I:  This is the entry and the training level in the Correctional Officer series. Incumbents initially work in a training capacity. Incumbents also learn and perform bailiff duties, maintaining the security of the courtroom and jury panels. As knowledge and skills increase, they are given more independent responsibilities. After successful completion of the training period, incumbents are eligible for advancement to the next higher class of Correctional Officer II.

    II:  This is the fully qualified journey level in the Correctional Officer series. Incumbents are expected to perform a variety of corrections and bailiff work and to work independently in applying the rules, regulations, practices and procedures of the Correctional Facility.     DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

    This is the experienced journey level in the Deputy County Counsel class series. Incumbents are typically assigned a wide range of civil matters and cases. Also, they are expected to complete legal assignments with minimal assistance. 

    DEPUTY COUNTY COUNSEL III

    DEFINITION

    Under general direction, to perform the more difficult and complex professional legal work in the interpretation and application of laws for the County of Plumas and its various subdivisions; to perform legal research and represent the County Counsel's Office in assigned legal proceedings and transactions; and to do related work as required.

    DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

    This is the advanced journey level in the Deputy County Counsel class series.     ASSISTANT COUNTY COUNSEL

    DEFINITION

    Under administrative direction, assist in planning, organizing and managing the County
    Counsel’s office; directs and supervises the work of the office; performs highly complex and difficult legal work; provides legal counsel to County of Plumas and its various subdivisions; performs litigation; acts for the County Counsel in his/her absence; performs related work as required.

    DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

    This is the senior advanced journey level in the Deputy County Counsel class series and is responsible for assisting the County Counsel with administering the ongoing activities of the County Counsel’s Office. The incumbent serves at the pleasure of the appointing authority and assists in accomplishing departmental goals and objectives within general policy guidelines. The incumbent also provides professional legal services and advice to the Board of Supervisors, County departments, special districts and commissions on civil and administrative matters. As the Assistant County Counsel, this position provides supervision and management of the other office personnel, including supervision of the Deputy County Counsel; develops and administration of the department budget, directing department
    operations, and by serving as second-in-command to the County Counsel and primary acting County Counsel in the County Counsel’s absence.

    THE EXAM PROCESS

    Phase 1: The exam process includes an application, resume, and two writing samples as part of the application: one sample demonstrating legal advice (such as an opinion or memo) and one sample demonstrating legal advocacy (such as a litigation memorandum of points and authorities).

    Phase 2: The exam process will include not only an interview, but also a review and practical demonstration of the required knowledge and abilities as stated under “Qualifications”.

    DEPUTY PROBATION OFFICER I

    DEFINITION
    Under general supervision, to investigate, assess and manage cases involving adult or juvenile offenders; to supervise a caseload of assigned probationers and monitor compliance with Probation conditions of adult or juvenile offenders through supervision, guidance and accountability; and to perform related work as required.

    DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
    This is the entry/training level class for the Probation Officer class series. Incumbents work
    under relatively close supervision, performing the most basic assignments. As experience is
    gained, incumbents perform more independent duties in Intake, Supervision, and Placement Programs. When the requisite experience and certification has been gained, an incumbent may expect promotion to the Deputy Probation Officer II level.

    DEPUTY PROBATION OFFICER II

    DEFINITION

    Under direction, to investigate, assess and manage cases involving adult or juvenile offenders; to supervise a caseloads of assigned probationers and monitor compliance with probation conditions; promote rehabilitation of adult or juvenile offenders through supervision, guidance and accountability; and to perform related work as required.

    DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

    This is the journey level class for the Probation Officer series. The assigned duties are more
    technical and complex than those assigned to the Deputy Probation Officer I. Duties are
    performed with minimal guidance and supervision.

    We typically receive the results of the test within one week of the testing date.  You will be notified via USPS of your score and whether or not you passed.  If you pass the written test or if you have been excused from taking the written test, your application will be forwarded to the Probation Department for review.  They will contact you directly regarding interviews.

After attaining registration, meeting the experience requirement and demonstrating sound work habits, they are eligible for promotion to Environmental Health Specialist II.

    DEFINITION
    Under general direction of the Behavioral Health Quality Improvement / Compliance
    Director, to assist with intake, utilization review, chart audits, remedial training and
    therapist support. This position will support the Behavioral Health programs with
    coordinating and implementation of quality management functions, including utilization
    review, quality assurance and continuous quality improvement and to perform related

    This is a specialized classification responsible for supporting the quality assurance division

    Solid Waste Program Manager/Engineer

    DEFINITION

    Under general direction, works independently and with local solid waste personnel, local/state
    regulators and franchise contractor personnel to ensure solid waste programs meet State
    requirements and related regulation and legislation. Monitors and generates grant applications
    and reports on solid waste programs, conducts basic environmental sampling to ensure
